Humberto Delgado Airport, also known simply as Lisbon Airport or Portela Airport, is an international airport located at 7 kilometers from the city center of Lisbon, the capital of Portugal. The airport is the main international gateway to Portugal. It is the 18th largest airport in Europe in terms of passenger volume, having served 29,006,042 passengers in 2018. It is an important European hub to Brazil, the largest European Star Alliance hub to South America and also a European hub to Africa.
Airport Terminals and Airlines
Lisbon Humberto Delgado Airport features two passenger terminal buildings. Terminal 1 is the main building and features large landside and airside areas with two check-in halls. The joint departures area features 47 gates. Terminal 2 is a much smaller and newer of the two terminals, used solely by low-cost carriers. It has 21 check-in desks and 15 departure gates.

Airport Services and Facilities
If you are in the mood for some shopping, head to the Duty Free Store at three airside locations in T1 (one of them is non-Schengen), and one airside location in T2. All locations are open from 4:30AM – 12:00AM. A wide variety of retail shops, selling everything from chocolates and wine to clothing and books, is also available.
If you get hungry, food concessions throughout the airport operate with varying schedules, many of which are open for 24 hours. A great variety of food and drinks items can be found at this airport, from tasty coffee and sandwiches, hot plates, fast food, pastries and cakes. ATMs are available at many airport locations and full-service banking is available at Santander. Currency Exchange offices are at your disposal at a few locations as well.
The airport offers a rest zone called “Living Spot”. This is a free area where you can lay down on recumbent chair, charge your mobile phone or use one of the interactive features. Showers can be found in the ABC Business Center and ANA Lounge. Absolute Beauty Spa offers massages and haircuts or styling services if you are on a longer layover.
First Aid Stations can be found in both Terminals and in case of any emergency a pharmacy is also available here. Sinks, changing tables, and worktops are available in the 14 baby changing stations located landside and airside throughout T1 and T2. In addition, if you are looking for a good rest, book a room at one of the hotels nearby.
Ground Transportation
Trains to all parts of the country are available at the main train station in Lisbon. The airport connects to the station via metro in approximately 10 minutes. Aeroporto Metro station lies at the Southern edge of the Terminal 1 arrivals area. The Aeroporto Saldanha line takes approximately 20 minutes to reach downtown Lisbon. Carris city buses stop at the airport arrivals section, and connect to Marquis of Pombal Square, and Amoreiras. Night routes run to downtown Baixa, as well as Cais do Sodré and Gare do Oriente train stations. Travelers with larger luggage must take the aerobus or airport shuttle. Aerobuses prepared for traveling with large luggage are available at Terminal 1 and Terminal 2 between 07:30 and 23:00 daily, and connect the airport with a number of major destinations in the downtown area. Shuttles are available to transport travelers around the airport, and to locations not serviced by aerobuses.
